Local News

The first Poetry Slam in Debrecen invites local citizens to discover a genre that is highly popular both in Europe and overseas and has also appeared in Hungary recently.

In Budapest and in Veszprém there are regular slam poetry clubs, moreover, several provincial towns including Pécs, Szeged and Zalaegerszeg have already hosted similar events.

The Debrecen slam poetry workshop for students will start on the 30th September; the sessions will be conducted by McZeek in German language. On the 2nd October this artistic venture will be concluded by an evening show and a party in the inner garden of the local modern art gallery, MODEM, where Dj Cadik and the visual art ensemble Kiego Izzok also give performances.
The Debrecen workshop explores a thought-provoking and extremely up-to-date topic; as McZeek will encourage students to write their own texts about prejudices. These pieces will be presented in the closing evening, accompanied by visual performances of the art ensemble Kiego Izzok, whose projected images reappear in the program’s final section, when Dj Cadik and McZeek deliver their programs.

Thanks to generous donations, admission to the whole program is free of charge.
