Aldi Recalled 12,000 Liters of Milk After It Made Customers Sick

Gastro

Several customers felt sick after buying the store’s own product: 1.5 percent milk at Aldi in Piliscsaba.

There were those who reported that even after consuming a small amount, a corrosive sensation appeared on the tongue and in the esophagus, and some also experienced persistent abdominal pain. In a local Facebook group, several people reported the same symptoms, and several reported that when they took the milk back to the store, it was taken back without a word. The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) wrote that  Aldi had withdrawn the problematic product from circulation under its own authority.

According to the authority, there are only problems with a certain production series: for the 1-liter, own-brand product with a shelf life of: 09/01/2023 (LOT number: L239536). The milk was produced by Tolnatej, and more than 12,000 liters of the problematic batch delivered on July 25th were sold. Aldi launched a detailed investigation into the matter, but Tolnatej is also investigating how this could have happened.

Aldi will take back the problematic product.
