IMF Raises Hungary 2021 GDP Growth Forecast to 7.6%

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) raised its forecast for GDP growth in Hungary this year to 7.6% in its latest World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday.

 

The forecast was raised from 4.3% in the previous WEO published in April. Finance Minister Mihály Varga has said GDP growth could reach 7-7.5% this year. Meanwhile, the IMF lowered its forecast for GDP growth in 2022 to 5.1% from 5.9% while bumping up its forecast for annual average inflation in Hungary this year to 4.5% from 3.6%.
